An increasing number of African governments are adopting collaborative approaches to boost development. These alliances are poised to accelerate technological progress and economic expansion, positioning countries on the map of digital transformation.

Africa Data Centres (ADC), a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, has partnered with the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to strengthen ICT infrastructure in Africa. The partnership was inked through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Accra on October 12.

Under the agreement, Ghana will receive up to 15 percent (US$50 million), of the US$300 million committed by DFC for this project. This aligns with Ghana’s aim to support its technology sector. For Scott Nathan, Chief Executive Officer of DFC, the establishment of the data center in Ghana will generate essential hubs for reliable, secure, and trustworthy ICT networks.

U.S. Ambassador Virginia Palmer expressed the United States government’s dedication to supporting Ghana’s digital transformation and digitalization agenda. “Ghana is harnessing the potential of the digital economy and we applaud its vision and commitment to building a strong digital ecosystem,” she said.

DFC has already supported ADC in developing infrastructure in Kenya and South Africa, to connect ten major economic hubs across Africa.
